IASTM is an another effective way to break up scar tissue buildup and fascial restrictions.
The clinician will first identify where there are areas of soft tissue dysfunction caused by fascial restrictions or fibrous adhesions. Then, by using one of several different shaped instruments, the clinician will apply the tool to the skin of the affected area with a specific amount of pressure. The instrument will then comb over fibrotic areas and break down adhesions so that they may be absorbed by the body. Studies have shown that IASTM can provide significant improvements in ranges of motion, strength and pain perception following treatment.
